It typically exists as single cells and is classified as bioactively free-living, although it is primarily host-associated, with Homo sapiens being a major host along with various other species such as Gallus gallus, Aves, Primates, Mammalia, Amoeba, Rodentia, and Cricetinae. This strain thrives optimally at 37°C, indicating its mesophilic nature. It has a unique cellular structure, characterized by two membranes and a single replicon. The pathogenicity of H. pylori strain B25 is particularly concerning in humans, as it is linked to a range of severe health effects, including chronic gastric inflammation, peptic ulcer disease, and various forms of gastric cancer such as adenocarcinoma and mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma.
