Acidovorax avenae, previously known as Acidovorax avenae subsp. avenae (Pseudomonas avenae), has recently emerged as a serious pathogen of rice (Oryzae sativa L.). The species is pathogenic to corn and oats, whereas pathogenicity to wheat is variable.This is the type strain (deposited as deposited as Pseudomonas alboprecipitans Rosen), which was isolated from a maize leaf in 1909 (adapted from PMID 18993005).
