Methanocaldococcus fervens (strain DSM 4213 / JCM 157852 / AG86) is a thermophilic archaeon, originally isolated from a core sample from a deep sea hydrothermal vent in the Guayamas Basin of the Gulf of California. M. fervens is methanogenic and piezophilic. (HAMAP: METFA)
