Kosmotoga olearia (strain TBF 19.5.1) is a Gram-negative bacterium isolated from an oil deposit and has a broad temperature growth range, so it is useful for comparative structural biology of thermophilic and mesophilic proteins as well as learning about oil deposit ecosystems.
